Madama Butterfly

Prints, brochures and a 3D theatre installation communicate Madama Butterfly's beauty, delicateness, and unobstructiveness until death; the taxidermied butterfly is a metaphor for the opera's underlying theme of foreboding possesion. Madama Butterfly's groom-to-be regards her as merely a beautiful collectable object.

For Carmen, love is simultaneously a seductive and destructive dance. Carmen confidently and playfully dances face to face with death, her sincerity as tenuous as the ethereal fabric of her dress. Our fluid Carmen was brought to life through a true Flamenco dancer.
